Chapter 2

She walked through the doors of Saint Peter’s High School and went straight to her English class without even thinking about it. Her mind was cluttered with the sight of the boy she kept seeing in her dreams. She had no idea who he was or why she always seemed to dream of him, but no matter what the answer was it didn’t really matter. Veronica, or Ronni as she liked to be called, was an average girl in an average school. There was nothing special about her, at least not that she could ever imagine. She figured dreaming of the boy was just her being a typical teenage girl.
Ronni wasn’t a popular girl, she didn’t have many friends. Honestly, she didn’t really have any friends. At lunch, she spent her time in the library helping the librarian restock books and keeping the library clean and in order. She would often sit down on one of the chairs in the library and wind up falling asleep; dreaming. She felt so at home and in the right place being in the school’s library. But even there she couldn’t escape the boy’s gaze or the thought of him. No matter how hard she tried, all day, he was all she could think about.
When the last bell finally rang, she got up and walked to her locker, grabbed her coat, and quickly walked to get on the big, ugly cheese bus waiting to take her home. She got on and sat in a seat alone so she could go back to sleep as she had been doing all day, hoping she would see the boy in her dreams again. Almost missing her bus stop, she got off and walked into her house half expecting her mother to yell at her for something she was supposed to do”. Her mother was not a very nice woman, she always yelled at Ronni for practically anything she could manage to yell at her for. She sometimes hoped she didn’t have a family because hers sucked so much.
The night went by quickly; dinner surprisingly went smoothly, no yelling between her parents and her chores and homework didn’t take too long to get done. Ronni’s favorite thing to do was sleep so she could escape the reality of her life. She was in bed by 9:30 and sound asleep and dreaming by 10. The dreams felt so amazingly real that sometimes when she woke up, she could’ve sworn all of that actually happened.
The next morning she woke up, put on her uniform and waited for the cheese bus as she does every morning. The bus got to school at a reasonable time so Ronni went to the lunchroom to get some breakfast before class started. When she walked into the lunchroom, she kept her head down as to not make awkward eye contact with anyone in the room. Again, the picture of the boy came back from the previous night’s dream. Last night, they almost talked but unfortunately, he disappeared before they had gotten the chance.
The daily routine seemed to never end, lunchroom for breakfast, then off to class. As she walked through the hallways of St. Peters High School, she tried to avoid contact with everyone. She then heard behind her
                “Ver… Veronica?”
This scared her. She slowly turned around, completely confused on who it could be. Once she was facing the boy, she realized how familiar he looked. However, she wanted to play it cool so in return she just simply said:
“Yes? How can I help you?”
The boy started jumping up and down. All Veronica could think was what the hell type of drugs is this kid on. He started saying:
“It’s you!! It’s you!!” I’ve been looking all over for you! Where have you been!?”
Only then did she realize that the boy standing in front of her was the boy she kept seeing in her dreams. She stepped back and said to him:
“Oh my god! Are you….. George?”
At first George looked confused as to how she knew his name. He simply said it was him and then started ranting about how he couldn’t believe he’d actually found her. The two agreed to grab some lunch later that day to catch up. Ronni didn’t know what came over her, but she quickly grabbed George’s hand to hold. Although they had technically just met, it all seemed so natural.
